Liability insurance premium refunds go to doctors in 10 states
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted May 17, 2010
Physicians in 10 states will see a drop in their medical liability insurance premiums, thanks to a refund that the Doctors Company announced for some of its members.
The $16 million dividend payment by the national physician-owned insurer will mean premium cuts from 4% to 10% for eligible doctors in Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Virginia, Washington and Wyoming. Eligible doctors will see the refund with their policy renewals, beginning July 1.
The dividend also will extend to certain national specialty medical societies that endorse the Doctors Company: the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery; American College of Physicians; and American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
